Fire Restrictions at Apogaea 2026 — Please Read
Colorado has had a dry, brutal winter, and the fire conditions across our state right now are serious. Las Animas County remains at Stage 2 fire restrictions, and Apogaea falls within that jurisdiction.
We’ve spoken directly with county and fire district staff. Stonewall Fire District has already put down 3 fires this season themselves, and have worked with state agencies to combat 2 large ones, the Schwachheim and Poitrey Canyon fires. They have a low tolerance for fire risk and appear likely to strictly enforce the current Stage 2 ban.
This probably means:
- No open fires of any kind
- No propane flame effects
- Propane camp stoves likely allowed
- Smoking only in designated 3-wall enclosed tents — not generally on the land
- All camps must have 2 fire extinguishers, strategically placed where they are visible.
We’re watching conditions closely. There’s a chance we drop out of Stage 2 before the event, but we can’t count on this.
All attendees: please plan accordingly. This is the time to dust off your LED flow toys, ribbons, flags, and glow gear. We know this isn’t what anyone wants to hear — fire is woven into who we are as a community. But the land we gather on, the communities around us, and the state of Colorado are depending on our responsible stewardship.
Current restriction status can be verified at lasanimascounty.colorado.gov.
We’ll update the community if conditions change. For now, plan for Stage 2.
