Circus of Fear*

A new circus is in town! Unfortunately, there seems to be something wrong with the clowns. As you enter the “Circus of Fear” haunted house, you realize that you may never get out alive!

High Flying Society Circus:*

Behold and be bewildered by the dazzling and daring circus antics of the High Flying Society, boasting the highest outdoor aerial rig and highest level of aerial talent. This show will combine aerial acrobatics with elements of dance, burlesque, and vaudevillian revue into a dizzying display of preposterous proportions.

Camp Eruption!*

A fiery volcano emerges from the mountains of the Apogaea landscape. Here individuals ready to boogie will find an eruption of epic electronic music from some of Colorado’s top DJ’s. The volcano will erupt nightly, while surrounded by a variety of fire performers for your sizzling entertainment.

Luminous Flux*

Ever-changing, Luminous Flux is a veritable cornucopia of music; Jazz, Funk, 70s, 80s, Rock & Punk during the day all manner of dance music at night and the soon-to-be-infamous Dong Gong Show (see event listing for more details). Shine On, You Crazy Diamonds!

New Kingdom of Transcendental Bass*

Shake your booty into the next dimension as our truck drivers transport you to a completely new realm. Enter through our Illuminated Gateway and stand amongst our throbbing monoliths. Prepare to be connected to a next-level lighting experience as our subsonic frequencies elevate you to dangerously evolutionary levels. Welcome to the New Kingdom of Transcendental Bass.

Camp Wardrobe Malfunction will be THE glam camp at Apogaea 2011. Come visit our skilled wardrobe engineers for the latest and greatest playa wear and accessorize your outfit with our carefully crafted bling. Did your pole dancing last night rip the crotch out of your favorite sequined pants? We also provide costume repair. Be prepared for a sexy red carpet fashion show on Friday night… you are the models! Accepting pre-Apogaea costume donations.

Bing Zombie Saloon

A rift in time shall open on the Apogaean mountaintop. Plutonium tommy knockers, uranium spike drivers, silk road prostitutes, alien monkey rustlers, long-dead crooners and deep space truckers will be thrown together to co-mingle in the dim, flickering lanterns of the Bing Zombie Saloon. So shiney up yer tin and belly up for cup after cup of our fine fermented zombie squeezins. Lay that laser pistol down and pick from the ample red light she-aliens, and dosey doe your dusty space spurs until they have worn through the hull.

Hula Hideaway

Hula Hideaway is back this year to bring the tropics to Apogaea! Come chillax among the butterflies in our tropical luminescent cave, shake your hula skirts and hukilau to some beach tunes on our platform dance floor, lounge in a hammock with a boat drink from our playa tiki bar, or discover one of our charming places among the palm trees to relax your troubles away! Our hula girls and hula boys look forward to hosting some hoopla including our Grand Aloha Luau on Thursday night and daily safari tours of the wildlife of Apogaea. The Green Room

The Green room exists for those who are green friendly while bringing you an entire environment where you are able to enjoy multi-talented djs, live art, food and drinks. This camp will be Indoors with an all green color scheme. If you’re going green this is the place to be 🙂

Illumitorium

Illuminatorium will stimulate the largest part of your brain dedicated to sight processing and visual memory. In the dark of night, our camp seeks to stimulate the minds and memories of the Apogaea community through both managed optical shows and self guided interactive light and glow in the dark (GID) exhibits. During the day, we will offer a chill space for the community when to relax and process the multiple stimuli that Apo offers.

Niflheim

The Norse ”land of freezing mist and darkness, and the location of Hel”. Come see the Chromosphere, a geodesic layer of light and sound – an experiment in synaesthetic ambiance!

ART INSTALLATIONS

Abstractum*

Abstractum is a collaborative effort to cultivate the consciousness surrounding our symbiotic relationship with our planet. Our Mission is to bring people together, to discuss our expression and to enact that very expression in a sustainable, artistic and creative way using natural and found objects as art objects. These objects (1 – 5 per person) are to be replaced to their original resting places, which will take a keenness of the participant. The collaborative effort brings about creativity in a society that craves for interaction, in a positive setting.

Synthesthesia*

Synthesthesia is a fully immersive audio-visual environment designed to supplement the default human experience with an entirely new and more enticing version of reality. It consists of a pyramid-shaped computer-based synthesizer capable of producing and tweaking sounds in ways limited only by the imagination and an intelligent digital echo chamber allowing you to interactively modulate and fractalize your voice and any other sounds inside the installation.

Ars Mutatus*

While preparing the new land for Apogaea 2010, DPW workers came across a strange metal form buried in the dirt. They accidentally powered it up, much to the delight of participants. They named it Ars Pristinus, meaning Ancient Art. Upon returning to Apogaea in 2011, we discovered that the large alien structure had grown both in size and complexity. What will happen when we power it up this time?

Illuma-doodle!*

Illuminate your mind and body and share in the phosphorescent fun with your old and new friends with Illuma-doodle! Using UV LED’s and perhaps some UV lasers draw on our wall and watch it react and glow for a few tantalizing seconds.

Pooka*

The Apogaea mountain Goddess was pissed last year. But why, what upset the Goddess? The answer came to me through the thunder. She demands, “MORE el-wire! More bunnies! ROAR!” Here to obey the calling, for your protection, the Pooka. These enhanced telepathic Pooka are here to wordlessly invade your grey matter. According to Celtic legend they have been known to give advice, confuse, amuse and/or terrify humans, but their duty is benevolent.

Liquidity*

Ahhhhhh! Liquid refreshment! If only there was a way to have non-boring water! Check it out, there is! Thanks to Domestic Scientists, you can enjoy hot and cold beverages that will bring the joy back to drinking. Drink up! Enjoy.

ThoughtScape

An immersive poetry experience that weaves together spoken and written words across space and time. It is an interactive real-time conversation between human participants and electronic voices that follow each other in a connected stream-of-consciousness dialogue exploring profound, poetic and sometimes silly topics. ThoughtScape brings to life thousands of thoughts, reflections and poems scattered across the Cyberspace and weaves them into a magical co-evolving dialogue with your own creativity.

The Foxfire Project*

As you embrace the grand celebration of Apogaea, visit the fire foxes and remember the native fauna of the land we borrow and enjoy here in beautiful Colorado. These playful sheet-metal foxes are an expression of appreciation for Colorado’s natural beauty inspired by the mischievous tricksters of Japanese legend, kitsune. Find all six: waving, stretching, dancing, stargazing, surprised, and joyful.

Solar Pyrographer*

A Solar Pyrographer harnesses sunlight to burn images into wood.

Zenith*

While Zenith is the pinnacle of a celestial body, Nadir is the base, sitting directly beneath the observer. Nadir is a place where participants can come and reflect, providing an opportunity to reconnect with the elements and with themselves. Choose your platform. Choose your path. Stop to take in the beauty of the world, or leave your own token on an altar. Reconnect with the universe. Contemplate. Meditate. Celebrate.

Sway*

Sway is a mesmerizing hanging mobile that will be suspended from a large copper sculpted frame. Be mesmerized as the seeds of life move above your head. Sit or stand beneath the handmade paper pods as they sway and circle above you dancing in the wind.

Smoking Glow-Me Gnomie*

The Glow-Me Gnomie will a 35ft tall gnome that smokes a pipe and the ‘fire’ will travel up the pipe into the lungs and then spiral into the gnome’s head. Come and check him out!

Astral Calendar elecTRON Dome*

Climb into an Atari. Our racer stripes light your imagination, but hey, I was into this style when it was popular back in the thousands. Before the movie you saw this year. Wait…there was an 80’s version? Bring your highlighters if your rods and cones need melting!

Come get costumed with our fashion experts and take a saunter down our runway to the pulsating, gyrating beats of Dj BrookStar and Dj Rolf. Seamstress will be available for your fashion emergencies. CWMF will also feature our roaming crew of fashion police intent on preventing fashion emergency’s. Citation recipients from our police will be taken into custody for fashion makeovers.

Saturday at noon at Hula Hideaway. Hail schmail! What is a hoop? Just plain old got knocked in the noggin’ by a hail pellet last year and forgot that we were GIVING away hoops? Come to the 4th annual Hoop It Forward Hoop Decoration Workshop! Hail or shine (or something in between) we will provide hoops for you to try out. You supply your inner hooping child to pick one out, decorate it, and take it home with ya (hell even let you use it at the rest of Apo!!!)
