Hi Apogaea Artists!
We had a discussion last week with the 40 West Arts District and the City of Lakewood, and they are very interested in featuring some art in October. The City has exhibition galleries that they would like to put some Apogaea pieces in, either in the galleries or the entryways, to tell the story of Apogaea / Burning Man arts to the general public. There are also opportunities to display larger work outdoors for a future First Friday event, including flame effects!
The City is willing to provide transportation and setup costs, as well as a small stipend if artists do a gallery talk or similar. The works inside the galleries would be up through the month of October, with a potential First Friday event in November. They are aware of Denver Decompression on 10/04, and suggested pieces could be moved directly from the Decomp event to the Lakewood spaces, to save unload time.
This is a great opportunity to showcase our work to a local, supportive community. Please email [email protected] if you have interest in displaying work, pictures of the piece(s) you would want to show, and what you would need in terms of transportation and equipment to set up. 40W is also working on expanding stipends and grants for this project.
