The Board would like the community’s feedback about the Apogaea 2015 dates. The input from this survey will be considered in the decision, but if you really want to weigh in on this issue please come to the October Board Meeting this Sunday in Boulder. Anyone who wants to express their opinion on the matter will be invited and encouraged to do so during the meeting.
Historically, Apogaea has been held two weeks after Memorial Day Weekend. For 2015, that would put Apogaea from June 3rd-7th. In the past, this has not conflicted with the school year. However, in 2015 the Denver Public School system is holding their last day of classes on June 6th. This creates a challenge for families with children in that district (and perhaps others as well). The land is available for our use from June 10th-14th, so it would be possible to change the date.
In general, the farther we push the event into June, the higher the likelihood that there will be a fire ban in place. However, it is also true that sometimes fire bans are put in place not because of a high danger in the area, but because firefighters have been pulled away to fires in other locations.
With these considerations in mind, which dates would you prefer for Apogaea 2015? Voting closes on Friday, October 17th at 11:59pm. Thanks for your input.
