Message from the Board and Updated Waiver for 2014

Howdy Apogaeans,

We understand that the recent safety communication from the board has caused some concern with theme camps who may have a tough time obtaining insurance and/or creating waivers so close to the event. To assist our theme camp leaders, we have revised the Apogaea waiver to include participants and theme camps. This does not mean that your theme camp is covered under Apogaea’s insurance policy, it is not! Moreover, we cannot and do not guarantee that the waiver will protect you or your camp or even be enforceable and we are not representing that you will have any protection as a result of our change in the waiver. You are encouraged to draft your own waiver and consult with legal counsel if you are concerned about these issues. The recommendations in the safety communication still apply, however, the official waiver signed by all event attendees now includes language we hope will have the effect of releasing theme camps and participants from liability in addition to the Apo org.

If you have already printed your waiver, please print a new one that contains the revised language. There will be limited copies available at the gate, so practice radical self reliance and arrive prepared with your updated waiver in hand. Nothing contained herein should be construed as a guarantee or representation that you are protected by Apogaea’s waiver.

Also, please note that theme camps and participants have never been covered by Apogaea’s insurance or waiver, but in the past the board has not proactively notified you of this fact.

Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the board at [email protected].
