The Big Money grant round has come to an end!
The GOOD NEWS is we received 48 proposals for mind-blowing art!! The BAD NEWS is we had requests for more than 5 times the amount of money we had to give out and had to make 38 people really, really sad.
2014 has seen an unprecedented number of creative grants. We want to say thank you for spending the time to submit a grant – we’re sorry we can’t approve them all! We hope to have even more money to give as grants next year, so keep those ideas coming!
Tip for winning a creative grant
More than half of the applications were submitted within 24 hours of the deadline! YIKES! If you’re going to submit a creative grant for any round, we can’t stress enough the importance of not waiting until the last minute.
The sooner you submit your application, the sooner you’re assigned an art committee liaison.These liaisons are here to help answer questions and refine your application you so have the very best chance of getting that creative grant for your project.

PHOENIX RISING
A three part installation, the Phoenix Rising bird sits in her wood nest coddling her eggs. When provoked, she rises and rocks back and forth as she breathes fire insisting on protecting her young. The climax to the event will allow festival attendees to witness the Phoenix eggs hatching in an eruption of fire and huge bursts of flame which causes the nest to burn as well.

ARCUS HYMENOPTERA
Arcus Hymenoptera is a stationary archway sculpture of two ants with flaming antennas made of resourced materials working together to lift a flaming heart. People may walk under and around the arch that is created by the ants that will also be rgb lit.
DRIPSTONE CAVERN
Dripstone Cavern is an interactive, educational chill zone. Participants can learn about the emergent systems that create caves and crystals while taking a “time out” from the hustle and bustle of Apo.
THE INTERGALACTIC CHUCKWAGON
The Intergalactic Chuckwagon, befriending the universe one stomach at a time! Think of the chuckwagon as the hearth of camp and the original food truck, warming and feeding our crew in whatever world we might be in.
REFUGE
Refuge is a place for those who find the danger and chaos of Apogaea to be a bit to much. Come relax in our super duper safe zone and play a game a checkers. Don’t worry, we’ll keep you safe in here!
EMERGING ABSURDITY
Emerging Absurdity is inflatable art and light installation. It will be suspended by guy wire 45 ft off the ground hung between two trees. It will basically look like an eyeball flower emerging out of space pineapple.
THE GLORIOUS CONFESSIONAL
The truth will set you free. Enter the Glorious Confessional, a traditional catholic confessional and find your self instead in a pornographic glory hole.
REALITY TV
Reality TV is an interactive retro/futuristic video installation based in and expanding on The Living Room.

THE NARWAL THEME CAMP
The Narwal theme camp is a space pirate ship theme camp with an interactive community gathering space.
ENLIGHTNINGMENT
EnLightningment is a light tunnel designed to surround the participants with lightning activated by the participants. The more the merrier is our motto as one person alone cannot activate all sequences; more than one switch will have to be activated at a time to achieve the full state of “EnLightningment!”
