*Signs for Apogaea and participation.*
For those of us who have made the long drive to Apogaea or Burning Man, no doubt many have noticed the signage which lines the entrance road to the gate. You may be one who loves and reads them all or you may be one who ignores them as trivial and passes by with nary a glance. No matter because like them or not, the entrance to Apogaea will have them this year. If you love them, here’s your chance to add your own brilliant thoughts or vision for others to see. If you hate them, here’s your chance to dismiss the triviality and create something substantial and meaningful and, oh yeah, participate in another small way to your already hectic plans for radical self reliance and self expression.

*The details:*
We’ve already got the Burning Man/Apogaea Ten Principals covered but there are still many open sign boards to be filled. The Apogaea theme this year is Illuminate. It would be wonderful if you have an idea relative to this theme you would like to express. Of course, your contribution need not be limited to the event theme. Like all of the Burning Man community, your expression is nearly unlimited with the exception that we’d prefer you avoid negative, hateful or derogatory discussions. For example: Dubstep Sucks! may be a valid opinion from your perspective but there are many others who like or love it. Please your expressions positive. Avoid promotional info like your
camp’s big blow out party on Friday night with the hottest DJ the universe has ever seen. Anything promotional will be rejected.
Keep in mind that at most, those who see these signs will have maybe a second to see and/or read and digest it. Keep it brief, a few words at most.
*Sign Size:*
11 x 17 – Landscape
Due to the limitations of our laminator, these will be printed on legal sized paper so it should fit and yet still be noticeable to someone driving by at the required speed (yyeeaaahhhh, right) of five miles per hour.
*What to Submit:*
If you’re an artist/designer and wants to create your message visually, wonderful. We’ll accept print ready Adobe Illustrator files, PDFs, JPEG/TIFF files or signs already printed on legal sized paper. Unflattened Illustrator compatible files would be great for minor tweaks when in rare cases the printing process must be accommodated. Sadly, to keep costs down, we’re limited to gray scale so four color options can’t be accepted unless you plan on printing your own. If you want to laminate your own as well as print it, we can accept up to around 11×14. The sooner you get the files and or prints off to us, the better the chance you have of it being displayed.
Prior to the work weekend dates of June 4-5 is required but emphasis here: the sooner the better. We don’t have unlimited sign platforms so again, those with earlier submissions will have a greater chance of inclusion.
