Medical & Fire Supports / General Participate Volunteers 2016

No Formal Education Required For These Positions!

1) Emergency Services: Medical Support

This participant-volunteer position falls under Emergency Services and is lead by the BAMF Lead with on-site guidance of the Medical Shift Lead. It will require some pre-event training (Protocol / Procedure review) and a minimum of one 8 hour Medical shift during the event.

This year, Apogaea’s Medical volunteers will collaborate with an event EMS team with the goal of expanding Apogaea’s Safety Services and providing a safe environment for our participants and medical volunteers. We will continue to support Radical Self-Expression and Radical Reliance, and continue to provide first aid for our fellow participants. 2016 Protocols and Procedures will be provided regarding the new land and local regulations.

Applicants are required to have up-to-date Basic Life Saving (BLS) CPR, and to have completed ICS-100 online training. You will be asked to provide current certifications.

On-Site Duties: Your #1 priority is to assist the Medical Specialist you are assigned. Things happen fast and a second pair of hands and eyes can save lives. The Medical Specialist will be providing basic first aid which can include: illness and trauma, burns, dehydration, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, airway / respiratory distress, bug bites, chest pain and more.

You are encouraged to bring a first aid bag, and any first aid supplies and tools that will make you feel comfortable during your shift.

2) Emergency Services: Fire Support

This participant-volunteer position falls under Emergency Services and is lead by the BAMF Lead with on-site guidance of the Fire Lead. It will require some pre-event training (Protocol / Procedure review) and a minimum of one 12 hour Medical shift during the event.

Apogaea’s Fire volunteers will continue to collaborate with local agencies to maintain compliance with local bands and regulations, to mitigate at risk areas and to monitor approved burns and fire art.

Applicants are required to have up-to-date Basic Life Saving (BLS) CPR, and to have completed ICS-100 online training. You will be asked to provide current certifications.

On-Site Duties: Your #1 priority is to assist the Fire Specialist you are assigned. Things happen fast and a second pair of hands and eyes can save lives.
