Happy holidays, freaks! The Apo Family has been plugging away, making plans, reviewing your theme ideas and adding new members to our board. What have you been doing? Anyone dreaming of art projects for 2009 should wait no longer to take their first steps towards making them a reality. Apply for your art grants today! Everything you need to know, you'll find below.... including the newly announced theme, which should really stoke your idea fires. Think of all of the warm times we'll have this summer, while you're freezing your tootsies off out there. We're already getting all hot, just thinking about it. Mmmmm.

WE HAVE A THEME FOR APOGAEA 2009

Thank you to everyone who submitted theme ideas for Apogaea '09! This year's selected theme idea is "Ramble".

• to wander around in a leisurely, aimless manner.
• to take a course with many turns or windings, as a stream or path.
• to grow in a random, unsystematic fashion.
• to talk or write in a discursive, aimless way

TICKET/FLYER DESIGN CONTEST

Once again, the Apogaea Creative Committee is hosting a ticket and flyer design contest.

Submit here :
Deadline : Midnight, February 10, 2009
Questions :

We will be using ONE design for both tickets and flyers. Winner will receive ONE free ticket to Apogaea 2009.

Art Guidelines*:

• Flyer Design Size - final size 5.5" x 4.25" + .25" bleed on all 4 sides = 6" X 4.75"
• Ticket Design Size - final size 5.5" x 2" + .25" bleed on all 4 sides = 6" X 2.5"
• File Formats - tiff, eps, pdf, and high quality jpg files accepted
• Resolution - 300 dpi is ideal, but files must be at least 200 dpi
• Submissions will be judged based on concept, execution & image quality

Content:

Both tickets and flyers should use the same design. On each, you must include:

• The name of the event, "Apogaea"
• This year's theme name, "Ramble"
• The Apogaea logo, which you can download here in EPS, JPG and PNG formats
• The tentative date of the event, June 4th - 7th 2009

*Please note that it is very important to stay within the developing guidelines. Pulling images off of the internet is usually not a good idea because of the low quality issues

The Creative Arts Committee is in full swing. We will open our doors for the Grants Cycle on November 15, 2009. If you are interested in learning more about the Art i.e. What is a Theme Camp, What is a Creative Installation, What are Mutant Vehicles - Please take a look at the Arts & Camps page.

First of all, a BIG THANK YOU to each and every Apogaean who made Apogaea 2008 truly out of this world. We were awestruck by the rich smell of community spirit that permeated the mountains this past weekend.

Stay tuned for post-burn tidbits and exodus information as the Apogaea Board unpacks and wraps up from the event. We've raised the bar in many ways this year, and have monkeys working around the clock to tabulate all the fun we've had, for official reporting.
