Title: Lamplighters Lead

Bio:  I have camped with the Lamplighters at Burning Man for four years. I have also been paid staff working for the Man helping to set up Lamplighter Village for three years. The Lamplighters gave me a home, a community, a purpose and the best dinner on the Playa when I knew no one ( I went to my first Burning Man alone) and they have been dear to my heart ever since. When I was asked to create Lamplighters for Apogaea, I was excited. When the realization came that LEDs were a smarter option in dry Colorado than gas lanterns, I felt that it would be an insult to Black Rock City Lamplighters to use LEDs, so I created something very unlike the Lamplighters at Burning Man. Instead of old style gas lanterns, we have bright, festive lamps. Instead of solemn ceremony and white robes, we have silly songs and costumes.  The first year we started with four lamp posts and eight lamps.  This year we will be up to 16 lamp posts and 32 lamps.
